Palm Beach Gardens is a truly exceptional city. It is safe, elegant, distinguished in its lasting presence, and certainly known throughout South Florida by anyone who knows locales of value in which to live. The schools are excellent; it is a great place for young and older persons alike, and there is no shortage of fantastic shopping, dining, living and leisure.
The Gardens Mall is an iconic element of Palm Beach Gardens; it is an upscale, two-story, enclosed shopping mall in Palm Beach Gardens. Its anchors are Macy's, Sears, Bloomingdale's, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, and it features more than 160 specialty shops and restaurants. The mall was originally called The Gardens of The Palm Beaches and was developed by The Forbes Company, based in Southfield, Michigan. On October 5, 1988, the mall opened with three initial anchor stores: Burdines, Sears and the second Macy's in Florida. Bloomingdales and Saks Fifth Avenue joined as tenants in 1990.
The Honda Classic, featured by PGA, of Palm Beach Gardens, is held annually. Some celebrated golfers have won this tournament, including Jack Nicklaus in 1977 and 1978, the only consecutive winner in its history. Since 2007, The Honda Classic has seen a vastly improved player field, largely due to the decision to make PGA National the tournament's permanent home. The prize money is comparable to other PGA Tour events outside of the "big nine" (the majors, the World Golf Championships individual events, The Players Championship, and The Tour Championship).
PGA National Resort & Spa is absolutely revered and of top-class as the place where legends and luxury meet. Since putting the finishing touches on its multimillion-dollar renovation, the resort is blending the two elements more stylishly than ever. Guests recognize it when they enter the lobby, a contemporary space where friends gather for one of the best happy hours in Palm Beach Gardens, or dinner at Ironwood. Patrons feel it when they drift into the sparkling-new, zero-entry pool or rejuvenated spa. The legends are still present every February during the PGA TOUR Honda Classic, making vital as ever the five championship golf courses. The country club at Ballen Isles is another spot considered to be world class. With a $25 million sports center and clubhouse-renovation program which began in early 2008, the club spans 72,000 square feet with the Grand Clubhouse complex, including a bar and grill room, private dining room, men's and women's locker rooms, card rooms, golf pro shop, and meeting rooms. The nearby Tennis and Fitness Center, separate from the clubhouse, has a 23-court tennis complex with viewing promenade, tennis pro shop, large swimming pool with sun/lounge deck, restaurant service, indoor fitness center with aerobics room, private massage rooms, saunas, and men's and women's locker rooms. Both complexes are restricted to members and their guests, however, both are commonly used by professional athletes in their fields for both practice and competition. Palm Beach Gardens is a city that falls short in no single detail and is a wonderful place for all people.
